Job Title: Manager Technical Designer, Ready to Wear

 

Primary Purpose: Technical Designer is a strategic partner responsible for the execution of
Ready to Wear product from development to commercialization.  They are responsible for analyzing and evaluating garments to deliver the correct fit specifications and brand aesthetic.  Cross functional partner to the Design, Product Development, and Atelier and Regional Support teams.

 

Hybrid role, based in 10 Hudson Yards, NY in office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

 

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in Technical Design to...

 

  • Create comprehensive tech packs for direct launches, incorporating detailed specifications, measurements, and construction details to ensure accurate and high-quality production; focusing on Women's RTW Dresses, Tops, and Bottoms.
  • Collaborate closely with the Design team to understand and translate their aesthetic vision into technical specifications and instructions.
  • Demonstrate mastery in garment construction, patternmaking, global sizing, and industrialization techniques to ensure optimal product execution.
  • Manage fittings and the pre-production process, meticulously tracking timelines and obtaining necessary approvals within the designated timeline and action plan.
  • Collaborate closely with factory technical teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement to enhance manufacturing expertise and quality.
  • Lead research and development initiatives to explore innovative techniques and standardize best practices that support Design and elevate the overall product quality.
  • Implement effective quality and risk management practices on a seasonal basis, partnering closely with Risk Management to identify and mitigate potential product risks early in the development process.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with cross-functional and global partners, fostering effective collaboration and communication throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Approach problem-solving with a highly solution-oriented mindset, proactively identifying and addressing challenges to ensure successful outcomes.

  • 5 – 7 years of experience with a thorough understanding of technical design with demonstrated proficiency in pattern making, sewing, garment construction and engineering. 
  • Good eye for proportion and design aesthetic. Attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Flexibility to adapt as the business required and to performance efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated Proficiency in Web PDM, PLM, Illustrator and Outlook,
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication
