Senior Developer, Product Development

Primary Purpose

Reporting to the Manager, Product Development, assist on all PD assignments from early development to PA sign off and support the Manager, Product Development with execution of full range of PD work.

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in Product Development to...

• Handle the product development process from early development until commercialization through all types of sampling: prototypes, line presentation sample, Product Approval sample. Ensure timely delivery execution as required by design.
• Take care of product development with sufficient knowledge of special technique: printing, embroidery, emboss….and all special product executions.
• Follow up all leather/material/components/hardware with cross-functional teams, liaise with factories throughout the product development process.
• Work closely with the engineering team to enforce the quality standard for the products. Check quality and execution of samples before sending to NY. Work out potential risk issues and help set up testing and trials when necessary to prevent problems in an early stage.
• Build connectivity between cross-functional team such as strategy costing team, LM team, MM team, HW team, and production team to exchange information during the whole development process. Ensure samples use correct materials and components that meet Coach Quality standards.
• Lead handover meetings with cross-functional teams; PM-, costing-, and engineering to clarify design details, potential quality risks, special executions and long lead time collections on each intro.
• Update all necessary reports to the specified deadlines in EC-Vision system.
• Check planning team/SCM team for allocation and project lead time- and monthly transfer list to ensure these are accurate, handle transfer development.
• Visit SPs to cross check all the samples execution to ensure all samples are correct before send
• Review/approve the cost submitted by service providers; create the landed sheet and submit the cost option.
• Assist design trip in regions to ensure the sample delivery a success. Take initiative and facilitate the whole development process in the trip via efficient communication with designs/service provider, acumen of product and ability to plan/control timeline.

The accomplished individual will possess...

• 7-year above experience in product development in handbags, wallets or accessories industries. Branded experience preferred. Top talents with sufficient knowledge of handbag are not restrained to the criteria of 7-year experience.
• Ability to solve quality issue on early development stage and handle unforeseen issue called out by service suppliers on production stage. Knowhow to make judgement and find solution in difficult situations.
• Ability to explore the new outsource supplier to meet the new technique/product development’s requirements
• Analysis & Decision making in sample inspection to acceptability of products due ship is a routine part of the role and must take account quality standards
• Hard working, well organized, proactive, and result-orientated, the capability to follow up design requirement and manage project timeline independently and effectively.
• Good communication, negotiation, cooperation and team spirit is the basic. Attentive to details and problem-solving is prerequisite
• Sufficient knowledge and profound experience in bag or fashion accessories development. Seasoned with product execution and outsource techniques. Familiar with fabric, leather, hardware.
• Be inclusive and flexible to work in a collaborative team environment with multi-cultural members. Willing to take pressure under demanding situation such as design trip and urgent timeline.
• Fluent English speaking .Good computer skills including excel, word and power point.
