Primary Purpose: The Associate Merchandiser will be responsible for partnering with category lead on the development and execution of seasonal strategies and business objectives for Men’s Retail Bags. The Associate will play a key role in collaborating with Design, PD, Global Planning and the Business Units to implement strategies to maximize sales and profitability, while aligning to the brand vision. In doing so, the Associate will demonstrate a solid understanding of global Coach customer and competitive landscape. The Associate will be responsible for sales analysis and systems management and ensuring that key deliverables are met.  Reports to Sr. Manager, Merchandising.

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in Merchandising to:

Product and Business Strategy

  • Partner with Sr Manager to develop and execute seasonal product strategies that support key global business needs and align with brand strategy
  • Partner and effectively build relationships with Global Merchandise Planning (GMP) and Business Unit Merchants to effectively drive business
  • Act as liaison to all facets of the business including Product Development, Design, Global Planning, Visual Merchandising and Creative Services to ensure deliverables and product lifecycle calendar deadlines are met
  • Own pricing of product using deep understanding of competitive landscape and customer knowledge
  • Partner with design & PD to communicate costing needs and maintain dept. margin

Assortment Planning

  • Participate in the line planning and develpment process with a strong understanding of the global market and business unit specific needs/nuances
  • Collaborate closely with Design through the entire conceptual and commercialization process to deliver on category objectives
  • Analyze current business to identify opportunity and risks in future assortments, regularly sharing unique ideas and recommendations for product opportunities
  • Manage presentation documents & tools each season to communicate assortment strategy & updates
  • Partner with Sr Manager and Global Merchandise Planning (GMP) to set financial targets each season
  • Own style set up process-input style, color, costing and attribute information into the line planning systems
  • Manage samples- Maintain lending log and coordinate sample set up for meetings

Market Analysis & Reporting

  • Research competition to understand the global markets and make recommendations to drive business growth
  • Seek out new ways to enhance and evolve the in-store retail experience through Visual Merchandising, signage, or technology
  • Present sales analysis to merchandising leadership and cross-functional teams, highlighting key takeaways and future actions plans

Organization and Team

  • Establish relationships with key business unit partners globally
  • Create partnerships with key Global merchandising peers
  • Create individual development plan consistent with team goals

An outstanding professional will have...

  • BA or BS degree with 3-4 years of experience in a Merchandising or Buying capacity in a related business or brand.
  • Strong analytical skills and comprehensive understanding of "retail math".
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the product development and production processes
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
