Sr. Director, Merchandising - Women's Retail Pre-Collection

Primary Purpose: The Senior Director, Merchandising will be a key team member of the Coach Merchandising team, supporting the continued growth of Coach's Women’s Leather Goods business. The position will report to the Vice President of Merchandising.


•    Product and Business Strategy 
o    Develops, leads, and communicates merchandising strategy for Women’s Bags and SLGs categories, leveraging product opportunities and business initiatives across domestic and international channels 
o    Create relevant product assortments that drive business 
o    Actively partners with Women’s Leather Goods merchandising partners and cross-category peers to ensure synergy across total strategy and product execution. 
o    Partners with Design and Product Development throughout the entire conceptual and commercialization process to build assortment that addresses brand and customer needs/strategies. 
o    Partners with Business Unit Buying teams to understand, influence and drive business objectives/customer needs, and identify category/product opportunities. 
o    Partners closely with key functional areas to build 360 degree go-to-market strategy including Marketing, Visual Merchandising, store and digital teams, and Customer Experience. 
o    Develop and refine a framework for customer segmentation worldwide, and ensure product development needs across all segments. 
•    Assortment Planning 
o    Drive assortment style and flow needs to balance both fashion authority and commercial needs
o    Delivers an edited and brand relevant line that is both sku productive and profitable
o    Ensures that corporate deadlines are met in order to deliver product on a timely basis. 
o    Supports pilots and testing agendas 
•    Market Analysis & Reporting 
o    Analyze sales on a weekly basis to gain comprehensive understanding of the state of the business. Provides global analysis that drives consensus and overall strategy 
o    Identifies product opportunities through regular hind-sighting that incorporates: fashion and macro trends, consumer research, business unit feedback and sales performance analysis. 
o    Maintain updated knowledge of key competitor product, distribution and pricing strategies. 
o    Manage retail price setting, target costs and margin goals. Partner with costing team on all costing objectives. 
•    Organization and Team 
o    Create and foster a strong culture of learning and development for direct reports and greater Leather Goods team 
o    Establish strong relationships cross-functionally including Design, Global Merchandising Planning, Marketing/Creative, VM, and Product Development. 
o    Create partnerships with key global merchandising peers and BU buyers

An accomplished individual will possess... 
•    Bachelor’s degree required 
•    Minimum 10-15 years merchandising/buying experience in related business or brand with demonstrated product development experience, preferably in a vertical retail environment 
•    Minimum 4-6 years people management experience
