Senior Manager, Materials Sourcing (Footwear)

Primary Purpose:

This role will support material sourcing for footwear development across all 3 brands i.e. Coach, Kate Spade and Stuart Weitzman. The  position will be responsible for ensuring all products meet Tapestry's quality and design aesthetic standards by providing technical and construction expertise, sourcing new materials as well as counter sourcing existing ones.


The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in material Technical to…

  • Ensure Service Providers are maintaining Coach Quality Standards for both quality and aesthetics.
  • Work with Service Providers on resolution to cut or replace leather which does not meet established leather quality guidelines for selection or color.
  • Work with Service Providers on resolution for any quality issue or non-compliance of Hardware componentry.
  • Work with Service Providers on resolution for any quality issue or non-compliance of fabric and synthetic materials.
  • Work with SCM team to make sure that materials are replaced on time if not in compliance with quality and aesthetic guidelines, in order not to impact FG deliveries.
  • Work with Costing Team to ensure Service Providers are working to fair leather waste factors.
  • Work with NY MM team to commercialize new materials. Work with field team and Service Providers to establish acceptable grading parameters that will maintain Coach Quality Standards.
  • Travel to Service Providers to educate and establish cutting leather receiving, testing, grading and cutting guidelines (for leather).
  • Work with PD team to establish leather polishing and burnishing standards when appropriate
  • Source new Service Providers when needed, counter source locally materials when needed or if needed for costing purposes.
  • Mediate between Service Providers and Raw Material Suppliers when issues are arisen and no solution is taken from one of the sides.
  • Work with PD and Design team on allocating the right material for the right construction preventing possible issues in commercialization.


An outstanding professional will have…

  • At least 5-7 years working experiences with Tanneries and finished good operations knowledge.
  • Experienced in leather, fabric and hardware management. Branded experience preferred.
  • Experienced in cutting of Footwear.
  • Experienced in Footwear constructions and technical limits.
  • Good communication skills in written and oral English.
  • Computer skill is a must (excel, words and power point).
