This position is responsible for all engineering and labor management responsibilities within the new Vegas Fulfillment Center (VFC).  Additionally, the Director of Engineering will lead in the start up of the VFC by working with the MHE and systems integrator to ensure all design criteria is met or exceeded.  This individual will partner with Distribution Leadership to ensure a successful go-live and continuous improvement as more volume, channels and brands are added to the VFC.


The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in Engineering to...

  • Play an active role in supporting and leading the start-up of a new multi-brand, Omni-channel fulfillment center
  • Install, oversee and set strategic goals of the Labor Management System, engineered standards and Performance Team for the facility and alignment with other Tapestry Fulfillment Centers
  • Hire and develop a diverse Performance Team. Talent development is a primary function of the Director role
  • Establish SOPs for MHE technology and processes by working with the integrator pre and post go-live of the facility
  • Streamline and optimize fulfillment activities across the facility and applying best practices across the US fulfillment network.
  • Support project work related to Tapestry’s Global Sustainability objectives, inclusive of identifying new project work.
  • Establish and maintain DC processing and storage capacity models for the Vegas Fulfillment Center.
  • Lead analytical studies in collaboration with operations, targeting continuous process improvement.
  • Establish a strong partnership with all internal customers. This primarily includes DC operations but also includes Tapestry IT, Maintenance, Finance and other support teams.
  • Provide thought-leadership and innovative ideas to tackle supply chain problems.
  • Manage engineering projects end-to-end.
  • Assist in implementation of a new WM system

The accomplished individual will possess...

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related engineering/technical discipline preferred.
  • Experience leading teams of professional Engineers in corporate and field environments.
  • 10 years of progressive experience in order fulfillment-related engineering, operations management, financial accounting and process costing.
  • Experience leading teams in project work supporting direct-to-consumer (ecommerce) fulfillment operations.
  • A background in the design, justification, and implementation of large-scale Material Handling Solutions.
  • Direct ownership of capital budgets.
  • Hands-on experience in the development and implementation of Engineered Standards programs and Labor Management tools.
  • Strong knowledge of Industrial Engineering methods, tools and measurements including but not limited to.
  • Strong project management and vendor management skills.
  • Competency in the use of work method measurement tools, information storage and retrieval, databases, spreadsheets and reporting techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with employing lean six sigma concepts within an operation.
  • Experience with new start ups and/or expansion projects a plus.
