The Analytics team at Tapestry is the center of excellence for statistics and data science. Through the application of machine learning algorithms and intuitive web applications and APIs, we are transforming the way Tapestry employees interact with our customers globally.


Primary Purpose: This Data Scientist will join our ongoing initiatives focused on improving the accuracy, scope, reach, and usability of supply chain optimization and forecasting methods globally across all brands. You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with our business partners, developing and maintaining forecasting models solving both near-term and long-term challenges, and deploying forecasting results into both machine- and human-usable formats.


A successful candidate in this role will leverage their experiences to:

  • Solve complex demand planning and supply chain optimization challenges
  • Collect, clean, integrate, analyze, and visualize internal and external data across multiple areas including demand, inventory, traffic, and labor to identify opportunities and guide our forecasting strategy
  • Develop forecasting models for all Tapestry brands and regions utilizing all available forecasting techniques from exponential smoothing to LSTM
  • Deploy forecasting models as batch and real-time API processes integrating with our internal AWS environment and external partners
  • Partner with various Tapestry business teams including Buying, Merchandising, Finance, and Allocation to identify the best opportunities and the right solutions


Qualified candidates will have:

  • Experience developing and deploying forecasting models from traditional statistical models to cutting edge deep learning approaches
  • Python and SQL coding skills are necessary, R is great to have
  • 2+ years of experience as a Data Scientist
  • BA/BS in a technical field (Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, etc.)
  • An understanding of Agile workflows and product development cycles


Other preferred qualifications include:

  • A Masters or PhD in a technical field
  • Experience in AWS, Azure, and/or GCP
  • Experience working with non-technical teams and business partners
  • Experience working with containerized environments (e.g. Docker)
  • Knowledge of retail and an interest in fashion
