Director, Corporate Services Procurement

Primary Purpose: The Director will focus on and lead Global Corporate Services cost savings initiatives and develop sourcing/procurement related activities including the creation and management of category strategies, competitive bidding contracting/negotiating, supplier segmentation, scorecarding and evaluation.  The Director will act as a liaison between Strategic Procurement and the Business / Function for the category by effectively executing the proceeding responsibilities.  This position requires the ability to understand Tapestry’s business strategy and related business unit objectives, particularly as they relate to strategic sourcing and category management processes.

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in Corporate Services to

  • Oversee all spend activity and procurement requests for assigned category areas and determine proper action plan for all that meet the procurement involvement threshold (e.g., strategically source, user purchase, contracting etc.)
  • Develop category strategies to achieve cost savings and improve quality and service levels
  • Drive Project/Savings Pipeline and opportunities.  Combine all spend information into yearly plans and long-term forecasts for costs, savings targets, and planned projects
  • Effectively work with functional and business groups as a trusted advisor to determine desired product/service specifications and projected demand when making recommended action plans.  Work with category stakeholders and business partners to implement procurement policies and procedures
  • Manage/develop all aspects of the strategic sourcing of projects consisting of cross functional and regional teams including strategy development, supply market analysis, RFP creation and analysis, negotiations, contracting and implementation
  • Develop Strategic Supplier Relationship Management programs to be executed by the Business / Function
  • Develop and implement forward-thinking initiatives to enhance departmental responsiveness
  • Oversee preparation and dissemination of information regarding contracts
  • Provide category procurement subject matter expertise to the associated business / function group
  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute strategic sourcing projects for assigned category areas by assisting with sourcing strategy, negotiations, and supplier selection and overseeing project execution
  • Provide robust project management ensuring all dates and commitments are met
  • Measure and track performance within each spend category and define budgetary impact
  • Drive use of procurement best practices and standardization of procurement processes while minimizing supply risk


An Outstanding individual will possess:

  • Strategic Sourcing/Procurement experience, Performance Measurement, Contract Negotiation, Project Management, Category Management, Business Analysis, Change Management experience.  Deep understanding of best practices and world-class processes for sourcing and category management
  • Deep category sourcing experience within Corporate Services.  Versatility in other indirect categories a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing methodology with pragmatism to manage exceptions
  • Strong leadership presence and negotiation/contract management experience
  • Strong experience in developing category and sourcing strategies by identifying opportunity areas
  • Track record of effectively directing and leveraging procurement spend in assigned category areas by leading global cross-functional teams
  • Experience managing and maintaining strong stakeholder and supplier relationships
  • Knowledge and experience with procurement/spend systems data and analysis
  • Strong interpersonal and management capabilities
  • Must have strong organizational skills
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and report summation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to apply change management and consulting skills/knowledge and expertise
  • Ability to identify and quantify legitimate areas of business benefit (cost savings/avoidance, client satisfaction, quality improvement, etc.)
  • Previous experience in leading cross functional teams in complex activities that crossover departmental, geographic and business entity
  • Experience in preparing and presenting reports and briefings to Executive Management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), proficiency in Purchase-to-pay tools (e.g. Ariba)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (5-10%)
