The Senior Manager of Strategy works in close partnership with the Head of Kate Spade Strategy and Chief of Staff, the Kate Spade Leadership Team, and the SVP of Tapestry Global Strategy & Insights to develop and support the execution of a global, well-articulated, multi-year strategy for the KS Brand. The role drives annual budgeting and long-range planning processes from a strategic perspective and partners closely with the brand’s finance, marketing, merchandising, and commercial teams to execute cross-functional brand strategies. The Senior Manager of Strategy embraces a data-driven approach and ensures that consumer insights serve as the foundation for key strategic decisions at KS.  Additionally, the Senior Manager of Strategy is a key contributor to evolving and delivering our Tapestry company strategy.  

 

As a core team member of the Tapestry Strategy & Consumer Insights team, the Senior Manager of Strategy stays on top of market trends, competitive intelligence, and consumer research, and will support cross-brand and Tapestry initiatives as required. The role reports to the Head of Kate Spade Strategy and Chief of Staff, and is based in New York City.

 

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in strategy to...

 

  • Brand Strategy Development
    • Design and support the execution of a well-articulated, multi-year strategy for the KS brand in partnership with the Head of Kate Spade Strategy and Chief of Staff, and brand leadership
    • Work closely with the strategy & insights team and cross-functional partners such as our data and analytics group, omni-channel teams, to identify strategic advantages and opportunities for growth
    • Develop strategies using deep analytics skills which optimize across consumer trends and insights, competition and geographies; and translate these strategies and insights into actionable deliverables for the KS brand
    • Support the long-range and annual planning processes from a strategic standpoint in partnership with Finance teams
    • Support key leadership meetings and workshops for the brand leadership team

 

  • Brand Strategy Execution
    • Support implementation and execution of key strategic initiatives for the brand
    • Actively ensure key consumer trends are appropriately addressed in strategic initiatives and focus areas for the KS brand
    • Track progress of strategic initiatives underpinning the LRP, ensuring the KS brand delivers both the brand strategy and financial commitments / annual targets

 

  • Tapestry Strategy Execution
    • Support the SVP of Tapestry Global Strategy & Insights in connecting the KS brand strategy to overall Tapestry strategic and financial goals
    • Support development of quarterly KS brand performance materials and competitor analyses
    • Partner with senior leaders across Tapestry functions to advance key strategic projects to accelerate growth on an ad-hoc basis

 

  • Organization and Talent Development
    • Share ‘best practices’ across all three brand strategies, as appropriate

 

The accomplished individual will possess... 

          

  • Overall Experience: 7+ years of experience in a combination of corporate strategy, management consulting, and operating roles within the retail sector
  • Multi-Industry Expertise: Experience within retail, apparel, DTC brands, or ecommerce preferred
  • Strategy Execution: Experience in designing a multi-year corporate strategy for a large, global organization and in developing and executing strategic plans for business growth required
  • Global Focus: Prior experience supporting a global business, with globally distributed teams, strongly preferred
  • Education: An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
