The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in Lease Accounting to...

 

  • Ability to learn and support ASC 842 and the lease accounting software solution.
  • Learn lease abstract, accounting and payment, processes and develop skills to act as subject matter expert and super user of the software to assist in training and support of global users across all brands.
  • Assist in addressing technical lease accounting and operational matters including contract/ lease review, assessing lease type, determination of possession dates, impact of options and terms, and accounting for lease components in accordance with ASC 842
  • Responsible for accounting in accordance with GAAP including the completeness and accuracy of the lease population (as well as potential for embedded leases), review of discount rate and reconciliation of ROU Asset, Lease Liability, other occupancy type accounts
  • Timely and accurately prepare journal entries in accordance with monthly close process, including percentage rent
  • Review & audit lease agreements to ensure proper accounting in accordance with ASC 842 for Tapestry portfolio.
  • Perform various lease analyses (trend analysis, fluctuation analysis) including recalculating amortization schedules.
  • Provide analysis on all lease related B/S and P/L balances review and analysis of abstracted lease data.
  • Assist in Preparing Month-end close reporting on lease portfolios.
  • Variance recon analysis (plus skill/responsibility) – investigate the origin point of variances within the portfolio.
  • Coordinate with business partners to gather & evaluate any potential embedded leases not calculated within lease accounting system.
  • Assist in SOX compliance – Send out all communications to business partners, own information gathering process and follow up, requests status reports from business partners.
  • Liaise with internal and external audit, manage and review auditor requests
  • Manage communications with landlords including sales letters and ad hoc requests

  • Familiarity with retail leases and the ability to interpret key lease provisions.
  • Experience with SOX audit preparation and compliance
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a Lease Payables environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (V-lookup, Pivot Table, etc.)
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Ability to multi task and work in a fast paced environment

 

An outstanding professional will have...

 

  • Knowledge of ASC 842 and new lease accounting standard
  • Working knowledge of the COSO internal controls framework
  • Lease Accounting experience in Tririga.
  • Experience with SAP S/4 Hana
  • Lease Payables experience with a luxury retailer
  • Experience working at one of the big 4 accounting firms
