Sr. Accountant, Lease Accounting

Primary Purpose:

This individual will play an important role in the day to day lease accounting and payables process. The role provides support and collaborates with global and cross functional teams including Corporate Counsel, Real Estate, and other internal departments.


  • Learn lease abstract, accounting and payment, processes and develop skills as a super user of the software to manage all Lease payables for the entire Tapestry portfolio
  • Timely and accurate processing of recurring payments, monthly invoices, and other billings
  • Review Landlord invoices for lease compliance
  • Perform desktop audits and thorough reviews of CAM and Real Estate Tax year end reconciliation billings to identify

Savings opportunities

  • Confirm all monthly rental obligations including Base Rent, CAM, Taxes, Merchant Dues, Insurance, Utilities are updated accurately and in accordance with lease agreement
  • Set up new stores for payment and perform all vendor/address changes
  • Perform new store audits to ensure new leases and amendments have been abstracted correctly into the lease system
  • Frequently review existing locations to confirm financial terms have been abstracted correctly into the lease system
  • Prepare monthly Sublease invoices and manage Subtenant AR
  • Expedite lease payments for any high priority items (i.e., Default Notices and Lease Termination Payments)
  • Work closely with all Tapestry Landlords to resolve any issues pertaining to the lease agreement
  • Monitor and Prioritize communications with landlords and cross-functional business partners


The accomplished individual will possess:


  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service skills to both internal and external customers
  • Familiarity with retail leases and the ability to interpret key lease provisions
  • At least one year experience in a Lease Payables environment
  • Excellent team player who works extremely well in a collaborative environment
  • Attention to detail and delivery focused
  • BS in Finance/Accounting
  • Ability to multi task and strong organizational, time management skills
  • Proficient Microsoft office skills, including knowledge of Excel


An outstanding professional will have:


  • Experience with software solutions including SAP
  • 3-5 years of lease administration experience
  • Lease administration experience
  • Lease Payables experience with a luxury retailer
  • Working knowledge of FASB ASC 842
