Job Description:

This position is responsible for managing and coordinating international air freight and ocean inbound and outbound shipments, with a primary focus of transportation of finished goods from global sourcing origins to North America and Europe.   This person will support, develop, implement and coordinate solutions with transportation providers and internal business partners to ensure the most productive and efficient mode of shipping is maintained that achieves goals and objectives. The position will assist with invoicing, shipping claims, analyze data, support carrier negotiations, monitor carrier performance and costs, monitor international shipping activity and provide internal guidance to the organization on issues and assigned projects. The position reports to and receives direction from the Director, Transportation, but will have substantial interaction with many other company departments.


  • Manage and coordinate shipments and deliveries with 3rd Party Logistics Providers, Consolidation sites, and Distribution Centers at origins and destinations.
  • Monitor inbound shipments and respond to issues and delays
  • Ensure that day to day transportation decisions and routings supports the achievement of the in-store targets, sales goals, and customer service objectives.
  • Manage NVOs, Ocean, and Air Freight carrier relationships
  • Participate in and support carrier RFPs covering Air Freight, Freight Forwarders, and Full Container, LCL, and other modes as assigned.
  • Provide ongoing KPIs and data analysis on costs, mode, origins, and carriers
  • Support projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Oversee and drive optimization of international shipping and mode selection.
  • Review, audit, and process freight invoices as assigned
  • Resolve freight claims related to product loss or damages
  • Work with production and origin teams to forecast freight capacity needs
  • Work with third parties and brokers to ensure proper flow and timely availability of import/export documentation is maintained
  • Ensure transportation and documentation is in compliance with appropriate government regulatory agencies 
  • Provide freight quotes and service options to business partners for special programs as requested.
  • Monitor and ensure that transportation-related operating procedures are adhered to across the enterprise.
  • Assist with the development of transportation operating plan, and track assigned spend.


  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • 4 years plus of work experience in international transportation
  • A strong understanding of import/export processes and Incoterms
  • Experience working with trade compliance and U.S. CBP requirements including C-TPAT, ISF/10+2, etc.
  • Highly proficient abilities with transportation software and ERP platforms.  Familiar with GTNexus and SAP preferred.
  • Strong analytical ability and advanced Excel skills required. Must have experience with breaking down data for historical comparisons, identifying trends, and interpreting data to identify issues.
  • Knowledge of transportation related EDI transactions
