primary purpose: the off price planning manager is responsible for proactively managing all business categories of outlet and ecom surprise sales in order to achieve sales, margin, and inventory targets. this role will focus on financial goals, departmental plans, rolling/placing buys during market, planning for promotions, identifying chase opportunities to drive sales, managing inventory, etc.  train, develop and mentor three direct reports.

  • manage pre season plans by department and class for sales, margin and inventory
  • manage core and fashion styles planning  to ensure the flow of receipts supports the current and future business
  • review seasonal buys with buying team
  • manage hindsight and market preparation process



  • management and maintenance of open to buy plans and product category to ensure  sales, inventory receipt and margin goals are met and align with corporate financial targets
  • manage seasonal inventory and make recommendations in regards to markdowns or promotions.
  • analyze aged inventory as well as risk in inventory for potential marking down of merchandise
  • maximize sales and inventory performance by analyzing point of sale data to identify trends and product category on a weekly basis
  • partner with buying team to continually manage the core business through in-season analysis and in identifying re-orders
  • recap and analyze actual sales results to plan, and forecast in-season sales and inventories on a weekly/monthly/seasonal basis
  • analyze historical data and current trends to identify risks and opportunities by division, class, product groups and style levels


people leadership and relationships

  • train, develop and mentor planner direct report ensuring that the planner essential functions and deliverables are being met on a timely basis
  • lead effective team development and identify succession planning across the organization
  • collaborates with peers to share best practices and develop strategic knowledge

an outstanding professional will be...

  • preferably 5-7 years retail planning & analysis experience
  • bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • strong excel skills: pivot tables, advanced excel formulas, excel formatting, merging data tables
  • JDA/EP experience as a plus
