Job Title: Product Development Manager – Outlet Leathergoods & Tech / Kate Spade, New York, NY
 

Primary Purpose: The Manager of Product Development manages the development of product from initial design concept to bulk production order placement for Outlet Handbags, SLGs and Tech Accessories.

  • Manage and develop direct reports on product knowledge and competencies with data, analytics, and technology.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities and daily communication with the Asia PD team focusing on developing a high-performing product based on design intent, proactively ensuring no production/finished goods challenges along the way.
  • Create and maintain initial Linesheet from initial linearch to production passoff.
  • Send sample orders at each stage to the Asia PD team with a clear deadline, collaborate with the team for the on-time delivery from factories. Report out the sample delivery status for all key milestones to cross-functional partners timely.
  • Partner with the Asia PD and Strategic Costing teams to complete the on-time costing reporting. Provide the cross-functional teams with the cost analysis/suggestions at each sample stage and proactively drive the costing conversations analyzing data to meet or exceed the target margin goal.
  • Manage the product review schedules focusing on product execution, consistency of details, and target margin, and collaborate with the global partners to align on product execution and risk assessment.
  • Partners with Materials Management teams to ensure materials are in work and on track for milestone deliverables.
  • Build and maintain a collaborative synergy with the Asia PD team through continuous dialogues, brainstorming, and hindsight on the product, process, and communication.
  • Set strategies and use analytics to support the brand: support Team Lead to create and present the Seasonal Product Development Brief to the business, providing trends, costs and identifying areas of opportunity for improvement.

The accomplished individual will possess...

 

  • College degree required
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in product development including the categories of handbags, SLGs and/or Tech Accessories
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills- able to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Initiative/sense of urgency

 

  • Computer proficiency in Excel, Window, Word, Power Point, PLM and ECVision
  • Embraces change, able to adapt and excel in a rapidly evolving and growing environment
  • Strategic, analytical decision-making skills
